Work experience is not offered as a stand-alone programme but is part of the highly successful Together We Can Succeed programme. Offered to young people age 16-25, it is all about gaining industry-relevant practical skills that can be taken forward into apprenticeships, employment or further training.
Students undertake practical land-based projects either at Merryhue Farm or working with local conservation groups such as Dartmoor National Part and Tamar Valley AONB. Work may be the construction of something new, such as a footbridge or fence, or it may be maintenance work such as footpath clearance. All work experience is done in real situations to give young people robust and relevant skills.
