The Foundation provides a flexible and personal way for individuals and organisations to invest in local projects, helping to ensure Devon’s communities thrive. The Foundation’s philanthropy advice and grant making services are quality assured through UK Community Foundations and endorsed by the Charity Commission.

Cornwall Community Foundation

The Cornwall Community Foundation’s mission is to inspire local giving to meet local needs. The CCF aims to make sustainable funding available to address disadvantage and build strong communities by promoting effective philanthropy. Since 2003 the CCF has invested £7m in 4,000 community projects in Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly.

Cornwall Community Foundation has supported Battling On with grant funding for several projects.

Apt Ed / Ascentis

AptEd no longer exists as an awarding organisation. As of 1st November 2015 all Ascentis (AptEd) qualifications are now certificated by Ascentis.

Ascentis is both an Awarding Organisation and Access Validating Agency creating cutting edge qualifications for FE Colleges, Training Providers, Schools, Employers and many other organisations both in the UK and overseas.

Dartmoor National Park

Dartmoor National Park Authority is a special purpose local authority created under the Environment Act 1995. The Authority is a freestanding local authority employing around 100 staff and is governed by 19 appointed Members. Prior to 1995 the National Park was administered as a committee of Devon County Council.

Big Lottery Fund

We are responsible for distributing 40 per cent of all the money raised for good causes by the National Lottery.

In our 2014-15 financial year, we awarded more than £1 billion to projects with a social mission.

Plymouth Woodland Project

To create a sustainable future for Plymouth's woodlands by involving schools and communities in monitoring local woodland ecology, providing a wealth of important data to woodland managers whilst also inspiring learning and exploration of the natural world.

Heritage Lottery Fund

From the archaeology under our feet to the historic parks we love, from precious memories to rare wildlife… we use money raised by National Lottery players to help people across the UK explore, enjoy and protect the heritage they care about.

Tamar Valley - Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

The Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or TVAONB for short, is a special area around the rivers Tamar, Tavy and Lynher. The area is famous for its mining heritage landscape. A team of dedicated staff and volunteers run projects and coordinate work to protect the Valley.


Sported are one of the leading Sport for Development charities in the UK, supporting over 3,000 amazing community clubs and groups that use the power of sport to transform the lives of disadvantaged young people.

Sport England's aims is to increase the number of people doing sport and activity – no matter what their background, ability or age.

V Learning

V-Learning Net is a charitable company set up in 2001, as a consortium for partners within the Third Sector in Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Work Skills South West has signed up to the Disability Confident Scheme which supports us in making the most of the talents disabled people can bring to our workplace, enabling us to fulfil our commitments to equal opportunities.


Pentreath Ltd. exists for people living with mental health and emotional difficulties. We offer support to help people believe in their own potential and achieve their vocational goals, whatever challenges they face.

Pentreath is an award-winning charity that was founded in 1990 and offers a unique approach to support. Many of our team have lived experience and our projects are designed with recovery as a focus.

Many of the young people who benefit from the Battling On programme have been referred to us by Pentreath.
